Choosing a Theme:
There is always a series of default themes present in Windows 8 - which are ready-made packages of special background images, screen-savers and sound effects. These ready-made themes contain one theme that is based on flowers and one around the Earth. You can pick your desired theme from available themes by right-clicking on the empty space on the desktop, choosing "Personalize" and then selecting one of the Themes available in your Windows. All pre-available themes contain a selection of images and the desktop background will keep changing as it cycles through those images. If you want to manually move onto the next image then just right-click on the desktop and select "Next Desktop Background" from the options menu.Downloading New Themes:
Microsoft has also given a facility to download more themes from a series of alternative themes put together by Microsoft. To download more themes from the menu by Microsoft, just click "Get More Themes Online" at the most right side in the Personalize menu. Older themes for Windows 8 by Microsoft include a gorgeous set of Forest scenes. You just have to click on the themes to download and save them to your computer. Once you've downloaded a theme, the theme will be available inside My Themes section.Building Your Own Theme:
If you want to stamp your own personality on your PC then you can do it in Windows 8 by creating your own themes. These themes can be as beautiful as the Microsoft's Windows 8 themes. To create your own Custom Themes for Windows 8 you just have to follow some simple steps:- 1. Save all of the photos or images that you want to use in your new theme, into a single folder.
- 2. Open that folder (containing your required photos), right-click on your required photos or images and select "Set as Desktop Background".
- 3. Close the folder, go back to desktop, right click on an empty space and select "Personalize". You will see your applied photos or images associated with an unsaved theme.
- 4. To add more photos or images to the theme, you just have to click on the Desktop Background link given at the bottom of the screen and browse through the folder which is containing your required photos.
- 5. Adjust the timing settings (the time to switch to the next image) if you like it. And then click on "Save Changes".
When you're done creating and customizing this theme, click on "Save Theme" and finally give your theme a name :)
